Path Into The Darkness
Disclaimer/Introduction
I put this page in to clarify a few things. First of all, this story is going to be very long. Although it's still in the early stages, its potential for length is about equal to (or may possibly exceed) that of Revival. It tells two stories: one that takes place in a time before the series does (approximately 12-13 years before Exodus) and another in a time well after the series ends (about 17 years after Book of Omens).
I'm tentatively rating this PG-13 because it's really not appropriate for young children. This story will be rather graphic and violent in parts, and will contain mature subject matter and a bit of adult content. There will be death, bloodshed, and heavy emotional issues for the characters involved to deal with.
Now that all that's out of the way, here's a little background. The part that takes place in the past will deal with Grune the Destroyer and how & why he went bad, while the part in the future deals with how the now grown up WilyKit faces down some of her own personal demons. As for the Grune story, I tried to keep with the continuity of the series by information given out in Ghost Warrior, but the writers of that episode managed to write in a plothole that there's no reconciling. The episode states on several occasions that Grune terrorized Third Earth "centuries ago" but Grune was also established to have known Jaga (who is established in several other episodes to be the same age as Lion-O's father Claudus) and been a Thundercat at the same time he was. Either this means that Jaga was a hell of a lot older than I thought when he died and Thundercats live a lifespan of centuries, or the writers screwed up. Further adding to the confusion is that Grune didn't know any of the current Thundercats and they didn'tknow anything about him, which I find very unlikely if he served with Jaga, especially since Jaga was shown in Cheetara's vision of him and Grune to be about the same age as he was when he died, so I don't think that much time had passed. What I have decided to do with this contradictory information for the purposes of my story is ignore the "centuries ago" crap and the fact that none of the TCats has heard of Grune, establish that Grune did serve as a Thundercat with Jaga, and Tygra, Panthro, and Snarf knew him personally, while Cheetara and Lynx-O knew a great deal about him. Bengali and Pumyra had heard of him since his rampage on Thundera occured during their late childhood/early teen years, while the younger ones, Lion-O, WilyKit, WilyKat, and Snarfer, knew only stories about him. Just thought I'd clear that up first. :-)
